Settlement counselors play an important role in helping new immigrants successfully integrate into our society. Cultural diversity in our community requires that settlement workers develop cross-cultural competence and knowledge in order to serve a diverse client base. Misunderstandings and miscommunications arising from cultural and worldview differences may affect rapport and relationship building, as well as the success of counseling itself.
Specially designed for settlement workers, this interactive workshop offers a platform to explore cross-cultural counseling practices and concerns to help participants effectively work with an inclusive population.
